Current legal situation
In the last hearing of the trial in June 2020, it was decided to suspend the trial against the accused police officer Abdullah E. for negligent murder. The reason for this was that “no investigation permission” was obtained in this case. The legal commission of the IHD (Human Rights Association) pursued this case and appealed to the second Supreme Criminal Court of Diyarbakir. In the appeal lodged, it was argued that the suspension of the trial due to a lack of “investigative permission” made the case lengthy and violated the obligation of an effective investigation.
