September 7th, 2015
Cemile Çağırga was shot dead outside the door of her home in Cudi District on September 7th, 2015, when the ‘curfew’ decision continued in Cizre. Her mother, Emine Çağırga, hid Cemile in the refrigerator for 3 days so that the corpse would not decay. Emine Çağırga descibes the moment her daughter was shot and killed: “We heard a gunshot around 8:00, and they said ,,Cemile fell“ I ran and looked, I thought she just fainted, Then she looked at me one last time and said, “Oh, Mother” and she never opened her eyes again. I held her and brought her home. The weather was hot and we put ice around the corpse at first so it wouldn`t decay. My Sister in law washed her and I just laid her on my chest and sang lullabies until the morning. In the morning, we put her in the freezer. Then the deputies came and took her away,” she said.
